Phil Fayer will make his IMSA WeatherTech debut at the Chevrolet Grand Prix this weekend, teaming up with Ben Hanley in the #2 United Autosports USA ORECA 07 for the first of two IMSA sprint races in 2025.
Fayer – founder, chair, and CEO of global fintech leader Nuvei – is a Canadian entrepreneur who is reigniting his racing career. In the early 2000s, Phil contested 17 rounds of the Toyota Atlantic Championship – a well-known stepping stone for IndyCar - securing five top 10 finishes throughout 2003 and 2004.
Now, after two decades away from on-track competition while growing his business, the 47-year-old FIA Bronze-graded driver is back for a new LMP2 challenge, with the same drive and passion as his Toyota Atlantic days.
“After 20 years away, it’s an incredible feeling to be back in the driver’s seat,” says Fayer. “Racing has always been in my competitive blood and joining such a respected team and driving alongside Ben, at Mosport, is a privilege. The sport is an extension of how I approach life and business: passionately all in, always pushing forward.”
Phil, who completed a series of test days with co-driver Ben Hanley and the United Autosports USA team in 2024 and 2025, is already a familiar face in the IMSA paddock, contesting three rounds of the 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with Czabock-Simpson Motorsport.
“The testing we have done with Phil proves that, despite a 20-year gap, he hasn’t lost any of his competitive instincts!” says Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO. “He is quick straight away in the LMP2. What we’re building on now is all the race craft and intensity of an IMSA weekend, with solid preparation in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.”
Fayer and Hanley will contest the Chevrolet Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America – with Nick Boulle returning for the rest of the Michelin Endurance Cup season as the FIA Bronze-graded driver in the #2 ORECA 07 (read more).
