Andrew Bentley is an endurance racing driver who counts Asian and European Le Mans Series’ podiums amongst his accolades with United Autosports.
Barnard Castle, Durham
Bentley started karting for fun when he was a teenager, quickly becoming passionate about his new-found hobby. Fast forward to 2017, and Bentley was given the opportunity to race in prototypes, lining up at the Paul Ricard and Portimao rounds of the 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup in the #23 Ligier JS P3.
In 2019, Bentley took part in another two races with United Autosports – this time in the European Le Mans Series with co-driver Christian England.
Bentley signed his first full year contract with United in 2020, partnering with Jim McGuire and Duncan Tappy in the #3 AERO Ligier for the European Le Mans Series LMP3 category. The trio secured their first podium together in their debut year, coming home second-in-class at the 2020 4 Hours of Le Castellet.
At the start of 2021, Andrew contested the Asian Le Mans Series with United, celebrating on the podium at three out of four races and playing a crucial role in the team’s championship win.
In 2022, Andrew raced in the European Le Mans Series LMP3 category with Jim McGuire. The established duo were joined by new teammate, 21-year old Dutch driver, Kay van Berlo - and together, they secured a win, clinching victory at the 4 Hours of Imola.
Andrew was on fire as he came through with some consistent, fast lappery.
// Won the team championship at the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series with United Autosports
// Won the 4 Hours of Imola (LMP3 class) in round tow of the 2022 European Le Mans Series
// Claimed second place in the 2020 4 Hours of Le Castellet (LMP3 class) with United Autosports
Finishing on the podium in three out of four races is pretty extraordinary.
EUROPEAN LE MANS SERIES
Andrew Bentley first raced in European Le Mans Series with United Autosports in 2019, stepping in to replace Mike Guasch after the US driver suffered a racing accident. Bentley joined co-driver Christian England in the #3 Ligier JS P3 at the two final rounds of the series – the 4 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps and the 4 Hours of Portimão.
In 2020, Bentley joined forces with Jim McGuire, representing the United Autosports #3 AERO Ligier JS P320 in the LMP3 category. That year, he celebrated a P2 finish at Paul Ricard with co-driver Duncan Tappy. In 2022, Bentley went one better, celebrating on the top step of the podium at the 4 Hours of Imola.
Andrew runs his own seat fit business, kitting out drivers with custom seat inserts to keep them safe and comfortable when they’re in the hotseat. Pair that with a busy race schedule and spare time is rare, but when he does get chance Andrew enjoys cycling and – for balance - cooking.
