United Autosports extend a huge congratulations to Luke Browning, winner of the 2022 Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award (AMABA).

It has been an honour to be involved in the AMABA journey - welcoming the finalists to United HQ in West Yorkshire for seat fits, enjoying two smooth days of running at Silverstone Circuit and seeing Browning scoop the prize at the 2022 Autosport Awards.

During the Silverstone test, each of the young British finalists - Ollie Bearman, Luke Browning, Jamie Chadwick and Louis Foster - ran ten laps in the United Autosports Ligier JS P320 LMP3 prototype, decked out in special AMABA livery to mark the occasion.

"Big thanks to United Autosports for supporting the test, it really means a lot to the young driving community"

Benchmark times were set by European LMP3 champion and United driver Wayne Boyd. Then it was over to the shortlisted drivers to put down their best laps on a mixture of scrubbed and new tyres – all in pursuit of the prestigious AMABA title.

It was Browning who came out on top, crowned the winner yesterday evening at the Autosport Awards in London. He takes home the prize of £200k towards his racing budget and a test drive in an Aston Martin Formula 1 car, joining a legendary line up of previous winners including David Coulthard, Jenson Button, Lando Norris and George Russell.

United Autosports wish all four drivers success in their motorsport careers, and extend their gratitude to Aston Martin, the BRDC and Autosport for the opportunity to play a part in the 2022 testing programme.

Richard Dean, United Autosports CEO:

"Congratulations Luke! The standard and competition between the four finalists was extremely high and it's reassuring to know we have such depth of talent in the UK right now. We were all so impressed by the level of commitment shown by Luke, it really stood out in our LMP3 car. His natural ability, pace and car control was a joy to watch."

Charlie Kemp, United Autosports Project Manager:

"Luke was impressive even before he got in the Ligier LMP3 car - professional, hungry to take on board information from the team and a pleasure to work with. Once on track, he was committed from the first lap and his pace was relentless throughout all the runs. Luke fully deserves the AMABA and the fantastic chance and kudos this prize brings - we certainly hope to get him back into a United Autosports car one day!"
