Racing career

John started racing in his forties, going to the track with friends. He quickly got a taste for it and signed up to a US racing school to fine-tune his skills. 

Schauerman has raced in a range of classes including F3 and LMP3, and in 2018 he made his debut in the Michelin Le Mans Cup – a series he’s raced in every year since. 

In 2020, Schauerman and United Autosports joined forces, contesting the Michelin Le Mans Cup with co-driver Wayne Boyd. The duo have raced together at tracks around Europe, including the Circuit de Sarthe which hosts the Road to Le Mans – the support race before the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.

In 2023, the team embarked on their fourth - and final - season together, as John Schauerman prepared to retire from racing at the end of the year. In the penultimate race, John and Wayne scored their first Le Mans Cup win together - taking a dramatic victory in Spa-Francorchamps, and ending their LMP3 partnership on a high.

The Michelin Le Mans Cup has become a regular fixture on John’s racing calendar - in 2023, he contested the European championship for the sixth consecutive time. 

In 2021, he celebrated on the podium at Barcelona and Le Castellet, and clinched fourth in the Driver’s Championship (LMP3 class). Fresh from the success of the previous year, John had a strong start to the season in 2022, securing second position at round two of the championship in Imola (read the race report).

In September 2023, John Schauerman rounded off his LMP3 racing career with an exhilarating win at Spa-Francorchamps, celebrating on the top step of the podium with co-driver and friend Wayne Boyd. Read the race report.

personal life

When he’s not racing, John enjoys spending time with his family and playing poker. He travels the world with his wife, Claudia, who cheers him on trackside and is also active on a number of corporate boards.
