Wayne Boyd and John Schauerman have targeted a top-three 2023 Le Mans Cup end-of-season championship finish as the Northern Irishman and American team up for a fourth consecutive MLMC season with United Autosports.

Schauerman has competed in the MLMC for the past five years, the last three with United and Boyd, having actually had his very first test in an LMP3 car with the Anglo-American team in the winter of 2017. John has finished inside the top-10 of the LMP3 Driver’s Championship for the past three years – with a best fourth place finish in 2021.

Boyd and Schauerman, who have recorded eight top-six placings together including three podiums, the recent from Imola this year, join previously announced Gerry Kraut and Scott Andrews in United’s multi-car Ligier MLMC line-up.

John Schauerman:

“Racing with United for the past three seasons has been great for several reasons. Richard [Dean] runs a very professional team. The guys and gals are dedicated and fun to be around while Wayne is great to race with. Besides being a top P3 driver, he has helped me immensely to improve and get closer to my potential – he’s an absolute gem. I aim to reduce my errors and improve my pace. A couple of small mistakes, at Paul Ricard and Monza, for example cost us likely top-five race finishes and consequently a much higher championship finish this year.”

Wayne Boyd:

“The aim is a top-three championship finish which John and I are 100% capable of achieving. We started racing together in 2020 and get on so well outside the car which makes it really enjoyable to coach him and subsequently watch John improve as a driver.

He takes everything onboard, puts it into practice, and always wants to develop to give us the best possible result. I’m grateful to United and John for having me once again!

I joined UA in 2016 so I’ll be entering my eighth consecutive season with them. I’ve been very fortunate to have raced in a variety of championships including the Asian Le Mans Series, European Le Mans Series, IMSA, Michelin Le Mans Cup and FIA World Endurance Championship.”

Richard Dean:

“I’m absolutely delighted to welcome John and Wayne back to our MLMC squad again – two very likeable and sincere guys and who both take their racing very seriously. John joined us in 2020 and continues to improve under the guidance of Wayne who has been with us since we began sports-prototype racing. He’s contested over 70 races for us in multiple championships around the world and is most definitely a big part of the United ‘family’. He’s a fantastic team-player and has a great relationship with John and I fully expect them to be pushing for podiums and to ultimately be in contention for the title.”
