United Autosports Maximise Gt Cup Championship Challenge At Donington

  • Jim Geddie scores maximum points available at penultimate GT Cup round

United Autosports scored maximum points at the latest GT Cup round at Donington Park last weekend (20-21 September)

Jim Geddie started all three races from second on the grid, hampered only by a Radical sports prototype which was in a class of its own, and therefore ineligible to score championship points. In the first race of the weekend, Jim had to serve an additional 50-seconds during the mandatory pit stop as a result of his previous successes. He was unable to claw back such a huge deficit but finished fourth at the flag.

Jim started both Sunday’s races from the front row and brought the McLaren MP4-12C GT3 home in second behind the Radical of Rob Wheldon.

Maximum points were achieved by the team throughout the weekend, extending our lead in the championship.

The final round of the GT Cup Championship is at Oulton Park, Cheshire on 25th October.

Jim Geddie, Driver, United Autosports:

“I’m thrilled with how the weekend went at Donington. It was a shame Rob Wheldon decided to enter his radical as we would definitely have had some wins on Sunday, but we still scored maximum points for the championship which is what we are aiming for now. Oulton Park should be a good weekend and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Richard Dean, Team Owner and Managing Director, United Autosports:

“Another great GT Cup weekend at Donington for Jim and the team. Jim drove some great races, it was just a shame we could only manage fourth in the first race, but overcoming a 50-second pit stop success penalty would have been a very big ask! We are now looking ahead to the last round at Oulton Park where we hope to take away the title.”
