Jim McGuire, Paul Di Resta and Phil Hanson will race the #22 Oreca-07 in the 2023 Asian Le Mans Series (ALMS), United Autosports can confirm.

United has a strong track record at the two-week shoot out - winning the 2022 LMP2 races in Abu Dhabi and clinching both the 2021 LMP3 championship and 2018/2019 championship. And with this dynamic driver trio – who count multiple world and European titles amongst their accolades – behind the wheel, the Anglo-American team are looking to build on former success.

Jim McGuire is relishing the challenge of racing once again in the #22 Oreca-07, having contested the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring - the opening two rounds of the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship - in the LMP2 car earlier this year. The Asian series will also mark an LMP2 reunion for McGuire and Hanson, who joined forces at the start of 2022 for the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, coming home sixth in class.

For established United driver pairing Paul Di Resta and Phil Hanson, this is their chance to reclaim the ALMS title, having won the series together in 2018-19. In 2022, Di Resta continued the success story, with a clean sweep of wins in Abu Dhabi alongside history-making 16-year-old Josh Pierson. Now on his third ALMS appearance with the team, it’s over to Di Resta, McGuire and Hanson to write the next chapter in United’s Asia campaign.

The 2023 Asian Le Mans Series will make its return to the UAE for four races over two weeks, kicking off in Dubai on 11th February and concluding in Abu Dhabi on 19th February.

Jim McGuire

“I am super excited to get back to the Asian Le Mans Series. It’s one of my favourite championships, especially since they moved it to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. To be back in the LMP2 car as well is awesome, it’s my favourite car to drive so can’t wait to get going with the team along with Phil and Paul. We’ve got a really strong line-up and we’ll be chasing down the championship title."

Paul Di Resta

“Very happy to be doing Asian Le Mans again off the back of the 2022 success myself and Josh had. There was no questions about joining Jim and the team for 2023, I’ve known him for a long time, a larger than life character and a strong foundation within the team. Hopefully we can have some fun out there, also focusing on attaining the best result possible, it’s nice to be back with United to continue on our LMP2 journey together.  There’s always one goal when you go racing, and that’s to succeed so we’re setting out to do just that.”

Phil Hanson

“I am really looking forward to adding two new circuits to my racing history, it’s going to be a really exciting challenge to turn up to two different race weekends at completely new circuits, something I’ve not done in a while. The last time I raced in the Asian Le Mans Series we won the championship, so I’m looking forward to doing the same with Jim and Paul as my teammates.”
