Zak Brown and United Autosports had a successful start to the 2022 Rolex Monterey Reunion, claiming a win and third place finish in the pre-reunion weekend of racing on Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th August.

The iconic blue and yellow Porsche 935 had a steady start to the weekend, crossing the line fifth in Saturday’s Group 6 practice session. However, a fire-up issue prevented us from racing, so it was back to the garage to get ready for the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion.

From seventh in the practice session to third in qualifying, the Jaguar XJR-10 was ready and raring to go on Sunday 14th August.

The first of the two Group 10 races started at 12:20 (PDT time), with Zak Brown moving up into second at turn one. A safety car pressed pause on further gains for two laps, before green flags restarted the action and Zak went to battle with the 2005 Audi R8 LMP 3600. On the final lap, the Audi managed to clinch second place, resulting in third place for the Jaguar XJR-10 and our first podium of Monterey Car Week.

Just a few hours later, Zak was back in the Jaguar for Race Two in the Group 10 class. We started on the grid in second taking the lead into turn one. Zak did a great job defending against the Spice GTP car of Cal Meeker and crossed the line victorious, rounding off the Pre-Reunion race weekend with a win for United Autosports.

This week sees Zak and the team return to the famous Laguna Seca track for the main event, with practice sessions getting underway on Wednesday 17th, with two races on Friday 19th and the event finale on Saturday 20th.

Zak Brown:

“Wrapping up the weekend with the Jaguar XJR-10; we finished third in the first race and for the second race the team gave me a great car so I was able to take the lead at the start and never looked back! It was a close race with the car in second but we came away victorious and now we’re getting ready for next weekend.”
