United Autosports Launches Historic Racing Business
At Monaco Grand Prix Début

  • United Autosports proud to announce move into Historic racing
  • James Hunt’s race-winning McLaren M26 back on the streets of Monaco
  • Confirmation of five major race dates for 2012 with exciting news on the individual cars to be  announced soon

United Autosports is set to make its début into Historic racing by entering one of the world's most prestigious events; the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique on the 11-13, May 2012.

The move into Historic racing is a natural progression for United Autosports which has amassed a wealth of experience in sportscar racing. The team's unparalleled expertise in team and car preparation makes it the ideal choice for owners of Historic racing cars.

United Autosports' involvement with Just Marketing International (JMI) means it can offer customers access to an “exclusive behind the scenes” experience resulting from lasting relationships which have been developed within the global business industry. Whether it’s meeting former Grand Prix drivers and winners like Stefan Johansson and Mark Blundell or soaking up the atmosphere and mingling with the personalities within the sport, these will be partnerships that are tailor-made for a limited number of iconic car owners.

Zak Brown, United Autosports team owner and driver, is an avid historic racer and is a co-founder and partner of Legends of Motorsports; a North American based historic car racing series alongside Indy 500 champion Bobby Rahal. Zak is the founder and CEO of JMI, the largest global motorsports marketing agency.

Zak, who also races in the Blancpain Endurance Series in a McLaren MP4-12C GT3, will race a 1977 McLaren M26 from his own private collection around the streets of the Monaco principality. The car has a formidable history attached to it, with former Formula 1 World Champion James Hunt claiming victory in the Japanese Grand Prix in 1977.

This year’s Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is set to be one of the best to date with 41 cars on the grid and drivers from 20 different countries.

United Autosports has confirmed that it will participate in a further four events on the historic calendar; the Le Mans Classic, Goodwood Festival of Speed, the FIA Historic Formula One race, which supports the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, and Monterey Motorsports Reunion in California.

Zak Brown will make his historic racing début at Monaco this weekend in the former James Hunt 1977 McLaren M26.

Zak Brown (USA), Team owner and driver:

I am very excited about competing at Monaco for the first time. It has been a childhood dream to be able to race there. It is such a historic track, full of challenges and unique. To be able to take part in a McLaren M26 that James Hunt raced in is just incredible.”

Richard Dean, Team owner and Managing Director:

“We are already responsible for a tremendous collection of historic race cars here at United Autosports. The race preparation of these cars has been more of a hobby and love affair over the last 12 months. We seem to have naturally created a historic race car preparation business, and we love it! Because of our growing business, we will be moving to new facilities next year.”

The move is part of the company’s ambitious plans for 2013. In 2012 United Autosports is competing in the International GT Blancpain Endurance Series, the Avon Tyres British GT Championship in the UK, Legends of Motorsports in the USA, and selected Historic motor racing events.
