“It’s been a difficult day. I went out in the first practice session and there was a problem with the brakes and the handling of the car so I only managed to complete six laps. I didn’t run in first qualifying and went straight into night qualifying. Early into my stint I noticed that the car was down on power so I came back into the pits. The team checked the data and it appeared that there was a problem with the ECU. We have now addressed the issue so I’m hoping that we can have a trouble free race.”
Richard Meins (UK) No 23
“We have had a few electrical issues today which has been a bit of a struggle and have set us back a bit so that has been difficult. The track is really dirty now and quite slippery in places. On saying that we have all qualified for the race although we didn’t get much day running. Last year I did 4 hours during the night so it was good for me to get used to it again.”
Mark Blundell (UK) No 23
“There have been quite a few challenges, and Alain has had quite a struggle as he has not had the opportunity to get into his rhythm, which is unfortunate for him. We ended the session having all qualified for the race, and we have a car that we are all quite comfortable with. The 24 Hour race will be tough and with 60 plus cars on the grid it won’t be easy, but anything can happen. We are hoping that all the problems have gone away and we can focus on the weekend and have a good race.”
Trevor Foster, Race Engineer
“We had a few electrical gremlins to deal with, but we seem to have rectified those now. All four drivers had to do three-laps each which they did, so we have qualified for the race. These 24 Hour races are all about preparation, especially the brakes around this circuit. Some of the drivers have not been here for some time so it’s all a steep learning curve, it’s a long race, and lots of thing’s can happen. Our objective is to stay out of trouble and keep the car out of the pit lane for as long as possible.”
